It was O’Hara’s first major screen role. 11th September 1949 – First Love, a 1939 Musical based on the Cinderella story and starring Deanna Durbin was screened in the Hall (source: Hall Journal, see also Connacht Tribune 10th September 1949, page 9). 12th to 17th September 1949 – Jimmy Robertson’s Players performed 6 nights in the hall featuring the plays listed below (source: Hall Journal):  My Old Irish Mother  Bonnie Annie Lawrie  Abdication  The Other Woman  Woman In Danger  The Highway Man 17th to 23rd October 1949 – Lillian Carrickford’s Repertory Players performed 7 different plays in the Hall on 6 nights (source the Hall Journal):  Little Nellie Kelly  Barren Soil, by Lillian Carrickford  The Sea Gull  Lane in Blitz  The Ghost Wore Diamonds 30th October 1949 – The Rake’s Progress, a 1945 Comedy starring Rex Harrison and Lilli Palmer, with Irish actor Brefni O’Rorke 81 in a supporting role, was screened in the Hall (source: Hall Journal, see also Connacht Tribune 29th October 1949, page 9). NB: In the USA it was titled A Notorious Gentleman. 4th to 6th November 1949 – Danny Cummins in Funzapoppin, the “Laugh Riot of the Year”, featuring Hal Roche, played 3 nights in the Hall (source: Hall Journal and promotional flyer). The Nationalist (Tipperary) 1st October 1949 provided the following commentary in relation to Funzapoppin on page 7: “Comedian Danny Cummins, who proved popular with Clonmel audiences on his last visit here, returns as top-of-the-bill in the variety show Funzapoppin at the Regal Cinema, beginning Monday next for seven nights. Presented by Mr. Billy Butlin of Holiday Camp fame the show also stars Josephine O'Hagan, the Irish concert soprano, and a full company. A special feature is a talent search contest in which the first prize is one week's free holiday at Butlin's Mosney Holiday Village, plus an engagement to appear on the Theatre stage there and there are also attractive cash prizes... seats may be booked at the Oisin Cinema.” 1st December 1949 – Lackagah-Coolarne Dramatic Society performed The Lord Mayor and Blundering Barney in the Hall (source: Hall Journal, see also Connacht Tribune 26th November 1949, page 9). 7th & 8th December 1949 – The Razor’s Edge, a 1946 movie starring Tyrone Power, Anne Baxter, Gene Tierney and John Payne, was screened in the Hall (source: Hall Journal, see also Connacht Tribune 3rd December 1949, page 11, advertisement headed ATHENRY TOWN HALL CINEMA). 11th December 1949 – Keys of the Kingdom, a 1944 movie starring Gregory Peck, Vincent Price and Roddy McDowall, was screened in the Hall (source: Hall Journal, see also Connacht Tribune 10th December 1949, page 11, advertisement headed ATHENRY TOWN HALL CINEMA). 81 Cyril Cusack’s stepfather
