NB: The screenplay was based on Louis Bromfield’s 1937 novel of the same title. 17th September 1946 – Sahara, a 1943 Columbia Pictures WW2 film starring Humphrey Bogart, Bruce Bennett, J Carroll Naish and Lloyd Bridges was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). 19th September 1946 – Halfway to Shanghai, a 1942 Universal Pictures Adventure film starring Kent Taylor, Irene Hervey, George Zucco and Charlotte Wynters was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). 22nd September 1946 – Appointment in Berlin, a 1943 Columbia Pictures WW2 Drama was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). It stars George Sanders, Marguerite Chapman, Onslow Stevens & Alan Napier. 23rd September 1946 – Abroad with Two Yanks, a 1944 United Artists Comedy starring Helen Walker, William Bendix, Dennis O'Keefe and John Loder was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). 26th September 1946 – Harvest Melody, a 1943 Producers Releasing Corporation Musical starring Rosemary Lane, Johnny Downs, Charlotte Wynters, Sheldon Leonard, Luis Alberni, Claire Rochelle, Syd Saylor, Marjorie Manners, Henry Hall, Billy Nelson, Frances Gladwin, Marin Sais and Herbert Heyes was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). 29th September 1946 – City Shadows (aka City Streets), a 1938 Columbia Pictures Drama starring Leo Carrillo, Edith Fellows, Tommy Bond and Joe King was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). 1st October 1946 – For Those in Peril, a 1944 WW2 Ealing Studios Film starring David Farrar, Ralph Michael, Robert Wyndham, John Slater and James Robertson Justice was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). 3rd October 1946 – Jungle Woman, a 1944 Universal Pictures Horror Film was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). Acquanetta stars as Paula the Gorilla Girl (aka Paula Dupree), along with Evelyn Ankers, J Carrol Naish, Samuel S Hinds, Lois Collier, Milburn Stone, Douglass Dumbrille. NB: This is a sequel to Captive Wild Woman, a 1943 Universal Pictures Horror Film which was screened on 24th March 1946, (see above). 6th October 1946 – The Black Commando (aka The Secret Code), a 1942 Columbia Pictures WW2 serial was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). It stars Paul Kelly (as Lieutenant Dan Barton, aka The Black Commando), Anne Nagel, Clancy Cooper and Beal Wong (as Quito). NB: The serial consisted of 15 episodes in total, with titles such as Enemy Password and The Secret Code Smashed. It is likely that several episodes were screened together on this night, or perhaps an edited version of the entire serial was shown, in Feature Film form. 8th October 1946 – A Song to Remember, a 1942 Columbia Pictures Biopic was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: the Hall Journal). This film stars Cornel Wilde (as Chopin), Merle Oberon (as George Sand), Paul Muni, Nina Foch and is a fictionalised version of the life of composer, Frederic Chopin. 10th October 1946 – Delightfully Dangerous, a 1945 Astor Pictures Musical was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). It stars Jane Powell, Ralph Bellamy, Constance Moore and Louise Beavers. NB: This film was shown in the Dublin city Metropole in February 1946 (see the Irish Press, 14th February 1946, page 4). 13th October 1946 – The Silver Key (aka The Girl in the Case), a 1944 Columbia Pictures Thriller was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). It stars Edmund Lowe, Janis Carter and Dusty Anderson. 15th October 1946 – Texas to Tokyo (aka We’ve Never Been Licked, or Texas Aggies and also Fighting Command), a 1943 Universal Pictures WW2 Propaganda Film was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). NB: This film stars Richard Quine, Anne Gwynne, Martha O’Driscoll, Noah Beery Jr and William Frawley. It was produced by Walter Wanger, who is probably best remembered for his 1963 production, Cleopatra, starring Elizabeth Taylor as Queen Cleopatra VII, perhaps the most famous Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt, (see a DVD screen capture from that 1963 Epic on the right here.  This is part of a lavish sequence in which Cleopatra enters
