Robert Paige, Grace McDonald, Barbara Jo Allen, Walter Catlett, Maureen Cannon, Lois Collier and Milburn Stone star. A 1943 Universal Pictures Horror Film, titled Calling Doctor Death (aka Calling Dr Death), was also shown on this date (source: Hall Journal and a Town Hall Cinema poster from the time). Lon Chaney Jr, Patricia Morison, J Carroll Naish and Ramsay Ames star in this support feature. 2nd & 3rd March 1946 – There seems to be something of a difference of opinion here between the Hall Journal and a surviving Hall Poster. The Poster records that Under Two Flags, a 1936 Twentieth Century Fox French Foreign Legion Film was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: a Town Hall Cinema poster from the time). This film stars Ronald Colman, Claudette Colbert, Victor McLaglen, Rosalind Russell, Nigel Bruce, John Carradine and Fritz Leiber. However, the Hall Journal suggests that Moontide, a 1942 Twentieth Century Fox Romantic Drama starring Jean Gabin, Ida Lupino, Thomas Mitchell, Claude Rains and Jerome Cowan was in fact screened by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). Perhaps they were both screened on these 2 dates, we just don’t know? NB: French born Claudette Colbert’s real name was Émilie (Lily) Chauchoin, while Nigel Bruce is probably best known for playing Dr Watson alongside Basil Rathbone’s Sherlock Holmes. 5th March 1946 – The Dancing Masters, a 1943 Twentieth Century Fox Comedy was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: the Hall Journal). Laurel & Hardy star along with Trudy Marshall, Robert Bailey & Margaret Dumont. NB: It would be screened in the Hall again on 22nd January 1957. 7th March 1946 – Moonlight in Vermont, a 1943 Universal Pictures Musical Drama was screened by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal). Gloria Jean, Ray Malone, George Dolenz and Fay Helm star in this upbeat film. NB: George Dolenz was father to Mickey Dolenz, singer & drummer in mid-to-late 1960s era pop group, The Monkees. 9th & 10th March 1946 – The Gang's All Here (aka The Girls He Left Behind), a 1943 Twentieth Century Fox Musical romp was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: the Hall Journal). Alice Faye, Carmen Miranda, Phil Baker, Eugene Pallette, Edward Everett Horton star along with Benny Goodman & His Orchestra 11th March 1946 – The Lodger, a 1944 Twentieth Century Fox Horror Film was screened in the Hall by Daniel Ryan (source: Hall Journal).
