Tony Martin and Rita Hayworth star. 25th January 1942 – The Sea Hawk, a 1940 Warner Bros Maritime Adventure Film was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). Errol Flynn, Claude Rains, Brenda Marshall, Alan Hale Sr, Donald Crisp and Flora Robson star. NB: It would be screened in the Hall again, (almost a decade later), on 10th January 1951, see below. 3rd February 1942 – What a Woman (aka There's That Woman Again), a 1938 Columbia Pictures Comedy Mystery movie starring Melvyn Douglas, Virginia Bruce and Margaret Lindsay was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). NB: It is the sequel to There's Always a Woman, also 1938 which starred Joan Blondell. Not to be confused with 1943 Columbia Pictures movie, also titled What A Woman! 8th February 1942 – My Love Came Back, a 1940 Warner Bros Comedy starring Olivia de Havilland, Jeffrey Lynn, Eddie Albert, 41 Jane Wyman and SZ Sakall was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). 17th February 1942 – Tomorrow at Midnight (aka For Love or Money), a 1939 Universal Pictures Comedy Crime Drama was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). This film stars June Lang, Robert Kent, Ed Brophy and Etienne Girardot. NB: It was actually shown in Dublin in June 1942 by the LYRIC CINEMA, James Street, (see the Cinema Advertisements on page 2 of the Evening Herald 13th June 1942). Abbott & Costello’s 1948 MGM Comedy, The Noose Hangs High, uses the same basic storyline and is essentially a remake of this film. 22nd February 1942 – 'Til We Meet Again, a 1940 Warner Bros Romance was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). Merle Oberon, George Brent, Pat O’Brien and Eric Blore star in this film. 3rd March 1942 – His Girl Friday, a 1940 Columbia Pictures ‘Screwball’ Comedy was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). This Howard Hawks directed film stars Cary Grant, Rosalind Russell and Ralph Bellamy. NB: The Journal actually documents the title as My Girl Friday but unfortunately we could identify no such movie title from this era. 10th March 1942 – Calling Philo Vance, a 1940 Warner Bros Comedy Mystery movie was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). James Stephenson, Margot Stevenson, Henry O'Neill, Edward Brophy, Sheila Bromley, Ralph Forbes, Donald Douglas and Martin Kosleck star in this film. Stephenson plays the role of Detective Philo Vance. 15th March 1942 – Behind the Doors (aka The Man with Nine Lives) a 1940 Columbia Pictures Horror Sci-Fi was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). This motion picture stars Boris Karloff, Roger Pryor, Jo Ann Sayers and Stanley Brown. 7th April 1942 – Flight Angels, a 1940 Warner Bros Aviation Film was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: the Hall Journal). It stars Virginia Bruce, Dennis Morgan, Wayne Morris and Ralph Bellamy. 12th April 1942 – The Lone Wolf Strikes, a 1940 Columbia Pictures Crime Drama was screened by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). Warren William, Joan Perry, Eric Blore, Montagu Love, Alan Baxter and Astrid Allwyn star. NB: Sidney Salkow directed. Warren Williams starred in 9 of Columbia Pictures’ 24 Lone Wolf films (1939–1943). Talking Pictures TV: “Michael Lanyard, a retired jewel thief, is hired by an heiress to help retrieve her stolen jewels.” 19th April 1942 – Murder in Greenwich Village, a 1937 Columbia Pictures Mystery movie starring Richard Arlen, Fay Wray and Raymond Walburn was screened in the Hall by Leo Caslin (source: Hall Journal). 40 Una O’Connor’s real name was Agnes Teresa McGlade 41 Eddie Albert (Heimberger) is probably best remembered as Oliver Wendell Douglas in TV Sitcom Green Acres, starring alongside Eva Gabor, as Lisa Douglas
